2 Die and 3 Injured in Fatal Auto Accident

Comments Off

A motor vehicle accident in Kern County on Monday killed two people, including a five month old infant, and injured three others seriously. The injured victims were air-lifted to Kern Valley Medical Center. According to the Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when the driver of a Chevy Impala lost control, drifted across the center-line, and was struck by a Toyota Avalon.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark McCormack said witnesses reported the Impala was traveling at a high rate of speed as it approached a curve less than a mile from State Route 14. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle as he drifted on to the soft-dirt shoulder. The Impala swerved into the east bound lane where it was struck by the Avilon. Both the driver, described as a male in his 20s, and the male infant riding in the Impala were pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was also riding in the Impala.
