Ground Beef Recalled In Six States Including California

Comments Off

Nature’s Harvest and Organic Harvest ground beef products sold in several states, including California, have been recalled due to a possible E. coli contamination.

First Class Foods, Inc., issued the recall of more than 34,000 lbs of beef after a sample determined the meat to be contaminated.

The contaminated meat can be identified by establishment number "EST. 18895" on the label as well as a Pack Date of 10341 and 10350. Consumers can also view product labels.

Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and in severe cases, kidney failure. The very young, elderly and persons with a weakened immune system are particularly susceptible to foodborne illness.

The USDA has not yet released a list of retailers to which the product was shipped, but will post that list here when it becomes available.

Get the latest CDC information on the recent infections of E. coli O157, and find out what you can do to protect yourself and your family.
